IQinVision, market leader in high-performance HD megapixel IP cameras, recently announced that Waterford Regional Hospital, a public hospital located in Waterford City, Waterford, Ireland, has deployed a mix of IQeye HD megapixel cameras throughout the hospital and grounds and Milestone XProtect Corporate video management software in a major upgrade to their video surveillance system. GVD, a specialist value-added distributor of IP technology, and Park 100, an innovative security integrator, were involved in the sale, design, and installation of the new surveillance system.

With the building of the new Emergency Department at the hospital, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) felt it was the ideal opportunity to embrace the power of IP technology for their security and video surveillance requirements. The new Emergency Department (ED) is a larger and more comfortable environment than the previous facility. Patient care in the ED is supported by a Minor Injuries Unit, a six-bed Medical Assessment Unit, and a 29-bed Acute Medical Unit which facilitate fast-tracking of acutely-ill patients and access for patients to senior decision-making about their admission or discharge. There is also a new Special Care Baby Unit, which is a purpose-built facility for babies born pre-maturely and for seriously-ill babies who need intensive care.
